Fire separation between factory buildings and warehouses

In the Code of Design on Building Fire Protection and Prevention, the fire prevention distance between the workshop has been clearly stipulated: the fire prevention distance between the workshop and b, c, d, e warehouses and civil buildings should not be less than the following table.

If the higher outer wall adjacent to the two workshops is a firewall, or if the fire resistance limit of the roof is not less than 1.00h and the outer wall of either side of the adjacent buildings of the same height of the first and second fire-resistant buildings is a firewall, the fire prevention distance is not limited, but the first class workshops should not be less than 4m.The two adjacent outer walls of the two c, d and e plant are non-combustible walls. When there is no exposed combustible eaves, the sum of the area of doors, Windows and openings on each outer wall shall not be greater than 5% of the area of the outer wall, and the fire spacing shall be reduced by 25% according to the provisions of this table.Class a and b plant (warehouse) shall not be adjacent to other buildings other than those specified in article 3.3.5 of this code.

The fire prevention distance between class a warehouses and other buildings, open fire or spark emitting places, railways and roads shall not be less than the following table.

 We can find some patterns from several tables:

1. The fire prevention distance between class a and class b workshops, warehouses and single multi-storey buildings and skirt houses in civil buildings is 25m, and the fire prevention distance between them and high-rise civil buildings is 50m.(category a warehouse is special and needs to consider the category of storage items)

2. The fire prevention distance between single-storey, multi-storey and high-rise class a and b workshops and outdoor substation is 25m.

3. In addition to class a warehouse and outdoor transformer power station, the fire prevention distance between workshop warehouse and civil buildings can be calculated according to the following formula:

D = L + N1 + N2

L (type) value: 13 meters for high-rise workshop warehouse, 12 meters for class a workshop warehouse, and 10 meters for others

Value: 1, 2, 3, 4

The fire spacing between the factory and the warehouse is easily confused. The main differences between the two are:

Workshop:

If the outer wall of the higher adjacent side of the two workshops is a firewall, or if the outer wall of the adjacent side of the building of the same height of the first and second fire resistant grade is a firewall and the fire resistance limit of the roof is not less than 1.00h, the fire prevention distance is not limited, but the first class workshops should not be less than 4m.

C, d, e plant and civil building fire rating are one, two, when the higher one side of the wall is no door, window, hole firewall, or than adjacent lower a building roof high 15m and the following range of external walls are no door, window, hole firewall, its fire spacing is not limited.

When the fire resistance grade of class c, d and e factory buildings and civil buildings is grade 1 or 2, the adjacent lower outer wall is the firewall, and the roof has no skylight or hole, the fire resistance limit of the roof is no less than 1.00h, or the higher adjacent wall is the firewall, and fire prevention measures have been taken on the opening part of the wall, the fire prevention distance can be appropriately reduced, but should not be less than 4m.

The fire prevention distance between single and multi-storey class e factories and with class e warehouses can be reduced by 2m according to table 3.4.1. The fire prevention distance between class e factories and civil buildings can be equivalent to civil buildings according to article 5.2.2 of this code.For c, d, e plant services and separate set of living room should be determined according to civil buildings, and the fire prevention distance with the plant should not be less than 6m.

The fire prevention distance between the class a workshop and important public buildings should not be less than 50m, and the fire prevention distance between the open fire or spark emitting places should not be less than 30m.

Warehouse:

When the adjacent external walls of the two warehouses are firewalls, the fire spacing can be reduced, but the type c warehouse, should not be less than 6m;D and e warehouses should not be less than 4m.

Two adjacent higher warehouse side walls for firewall, or between two highly rated the same first and second level building in adjacent either side walls for the firewall and the fire resistance of the roof is not lower than 1.00 h, and the total area is not more than this specification article 3.3.2 rainfall distribution on 10-12 maximum allowable covers an area of a warehouse regulations, its fire prevention spacing is unlimited.

D, e class warehouse and civil building fire rating are a, two, when the higher one side of the wall is no door, window, hole firewall, or than adjacent lower a building roof height of 15m and the following range of external wall is no door, window, hole firewall, its fire spacing is not limited.

Except for item 6 of category b, the fire prevention distance between category b warehouse and civil buildings should not be less than 25m, the fire prevention distance between important public buildings should not be less than 50m, and the fire prevention distance between category a warehouse and railway and road should not be less than the fire prevention distance between category a warehouse and railway and road in table 3.5.1.
